Course Outline and Registration

Anyone can (and does) do improv, on a daily basis, and the more we are aware of our environment, the easier it becomes to deal with unfamiliar situations.

BASIC (Beginner Adult Starter Improv Course) can benefit everyone: individuals interested in developing their improv skills, college students who need to give presentations, businesspeople who have to address audiences, teachers who are undertaking new classes, actors who have trouble with auditions – indeed, anyone who feels uncomfortable about standing up in front of groups to speak or deliver presentations.

The 8-week course will address basic principles of improv, including:

  • Basic terminology and improv skills
  • Working in groups, as well as with partners and alone
  • Building trust
  • Honing listening skills
  • Observing and reacting to verbal, nonverbal and physical cues
  • Interacting with, as well as performing for, an audience
  • Reacting in the moment:
    not overthinking or planning ahead
  • Listening to, and working with, your onstage partners / colleagues
  • Working on your stage character and environment and learning how one feeds the other
Improv Dude

Courses will be offered in the evenings and weekends. Each class will run 2.5 hours with a short break

Duration: 8 weeks, 2.5 hours per class
Cost: $249
